FHI Ventures is a social enterprise facilitator supporting early-stage businesses with the potential for high impact and a commitment to delivering social and financial returns. It is a subsidiary of FHI 360, a nonprofit human development organization dedicated to improving lives in lasting ways by advancing integrated, locally driven solutions.

FHI Ventures bridges the “pioneer gap” for early-stage social enterprises that have launched but are not yet earning revenue from, a new product or service designed for social good. In most cases, these businesses need support and funding before they can attract investment capital to scale up their offering, maximizing its social impact and financial returns.

FHI Ventures’ “Social Enterprise Facilitator” is a unique approach to the accelerator model. We work with small groups of carefully selected social enterprises to help them overcome the pioneer gap by providing a higher-than-average capital investment along with support that includes:

  • A customized six-month curriculum focused on the specific needs of each social enterprise, combining virtual training delivery with in-person expert support
  • Mentors from among FHI 360’s experts in global health, education, economic development and other key sectors
  • Access to FHI 360’s global network for product and market testing and distribution
  • Assistance identifying and measuring impact indicators
  • Support from the FHI Foundation to attract additional investment capital

Advancing the Sustainable Development Goals By working to increase the impact of social enterprises, FHI Ventures seeks to contribute to 11 of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):

  • No Poverty
  • Zero Hunger
  • Good Health and Well-being
  • Quality Education
  • Gender Equality
  • Clean Water and Sanitation
  • Decent Work and Economic Growth
  • Reduced Inequalities
  • Life on Land
  • Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions
  • Partnership for the Goals
